  • Nicole Price is a thoughtful and impartial investigator who has conducted well over 150 investigations with respect to harassment, discrimination, sexual misconduct, and general workplace misconduct.

Nicole has a psychology degree from the University of Windsor (1998) and a law degree from the University of British Columbia (2001). She articled with a national law firm and joined its Labour and Employment group as an associate. Her desire for first-hand exposure to business operations prompted her move to in-house Employee Relations, where she gained in-depth experience in the complexities of the workplace, in both the private and public sectors, over the course of 10 years.

Since 2013, Nicole has focused her practice on workplace investigations to become a leading practitioner in this growing and dynamic field. She brings a practical and relatable approach to this important area of work. Nicole values ongoing learning. She brings trauma-informed, unconscious bias training, and specific training related to investigating sexual misconduct to her practice. She provides anti-harassment training in various sectors. As a founding partner at SBP, she is committed to mentoring associates, and routinely provides guidance on complex files.

  • Nicole seeks out opportunities to resolve workplace conflict through various tools, including workplace assessments, investigations, and mediations, tailoring the process to the circumstances. Her clients include crown corporations, educational institutions, non-profit organizations, unions, municipal governments, and private companies.

With extensive independent investigation experience, Nicole can competently navigate challenges while reaching fair and balanced conclusions.

Federally Regulated Employers Investigator (National Roster)
Nicole became a member of the Government of Canada’s national roster of workplace harassment and violence prevention investigators in 2021. She has completed numerous investigations for federally regulated organizations in compliance with the Canada Labour Code and Regulations. Nicole is well versed in the procedural and practical elements of such investigations and values the opportunity to make recommendations to foster a positive workplace as part of those investigations. Her federal sector work includes maritime, trucking, rail, Crown, and First Nations.

    Mediator
Nicole Price has extensive experience resolving workplace conflict, practicing workplace law for 20 years. Ten of those years were spent in-house in the private and public sectors, which gave her a firm grasp on the realities and complexities of the workplace. In that context, she worked collaboratively with stakeholder groups, unions, and leadership to negotiate and attain resolutions to challenging problems, including through collective bargaining, memoranda of understanding, and as Chair of a union-management Duty to Accommodate committee.

Nicole firmly believes that many disputes are better suited to a mediated resolution. She looks for opportunities for mediation (with the consent of the parties) in files that might otherwise be investigated and has successfully reset working relationships.

Nicole values ongoing learning: she has completed training including Advanced Mediation (CLE) and Trauma-Informed practices (T9Mastered), which inform her approach to mediation. She is a practical, approachable, and effective mediator.

  • Nicole was recognized in the Best Lawyers in Canada 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 editions for achievements in labour and employment law in British Columbia.

Nicole is a member of the Government of Canada’s national roster of workplace harassment and violence prevention investigators.
