  • Maryse Séguin has been a lawyer since 2019, an investigator since 2020, and a mediator since 2022. She understands the intricacies of maintaining a safe and respectful work environment and does not shy away from files that evolve in complexity. She is skilled in assisting employers and employees achieve a higher level of mutual trust and in detangling complex workplace issues.

    Being bilingual, she can also assist clients in French and English – Maryse se réjouit de vous desservir dans la langue de votre choix! She is also happy to travel for files when needed, and in doing so, she makes best efforts to reduce the costs for the client.

    Maryse was born and raised in a French community in Ottawa, Ontario. She completed her Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) and her Bachelor of Law, Common Law, at the University of Ottawa. She was called to the Ontario Bar in 2019 after articling at a boutique labour and employment litigation firm in Ottawa. She was called to the British Columbia Bar in 2020 and the Northwest Territories Bar in 2025. She was also appointed to the Government of Canada’s Work Place Harassment and Violence Prevention Regulations Registry of Investigators in 2025; as an independent investigator of Sport Integrity Canada in 2025; and as an investigator for the Office of the Sport Integrity Commissioner Investigation Unit from 2022 to 2025.

    Further, Maryse is well versed on representation rights, and collaborates with unions when needed to ensure participants feel emotionally safe during investigations and mediations. She has completed extensive training on trauma-informed investigations, unconscious biases, Indigenous history and trauma, and intersectionality.

  • Maryse’s investigative experience includes assisting clients from both public and private sectors on a wide range of matters including, but not limited to, human rights issues, bullying and harassment, various forms of violence, abuse of authority and fiduciary breaches, Indigenous cultural competency issues, insubordination, retaliation, elected official-to-municipal staff misconduct, and adult-to-child misconduct in the academic and sport contexts.

    Her mediation experience includes helping employees at all levels in various industries navigate challenging relationships and establish practical tools to promote more positive experiences between them.

    Maryse has conducted training sessions on the 2021 definition of ‘harassment and violence’ under the Canada Labour Code and delivered a presentation at the Conférence des arbitres du Québec (the Québec Arbitrator’s Conference) in the spring of 2023 on the impacts of #MeToo in the legal industry.

    Maryse also completed the Harvard Mediation and Conflict Management course in the fall of 2022 and is a committee member of Southern Law’s internal Mediation Practice Group. She is enjoying expanding her practice to include mediation services.

  • From 2022 to 2025, Maryse was appointed as an Independent Investigation member of the Office of the Sport Integrity Commissioner Investigation Unit.

    Maryse was appointed as an Independent Investigator of Sport Integrity Canada in 2025.

    Maryse became a member of the Government of Canada’s Work Place Harassment and Violence Prevention Regulations Registry of Investigators in 2025.
