After obtaining a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Saskatchewan, Coran moved to Vancouver to attend law school at the University of British Columbia. He received his Bachelor of Laws in 2001 and moved to Calgary, where he articled and worked for a large national law firm, working primarily on insurance defence and labour and employment-related matters.
In 2003, Coran returned to Vancouver and was called to the British Columbia Bar. Starting as a junior associate at a mid-sized Vancouver-based law firm, he worked his way up to partner by distilling clients’ complex legal issues into practical, business-based solutions. In 2011, Coran was hired to work at the Law Society of British Columbia, assessing and investigating allegations by members of the public against British Columbia lawyers. His file load included numerous allegations of misconduct, negligence, and misappropriation on the part of the lawyers involved. He was also responsible for handling issues related to the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and other privacy legislation.
Coran prides himself on being able to analyze complex fact patterns and evidence with objectivity, thoughtfulness, and regard for the impact on the workplace. Coran is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia and the Labour Law and Workplace Investigations Sections of the Canadian Bar Association.

Coran Cooper-Stephenson is a practical and impartial investigator with a broad range of experience. His work includes investigations for both federally and provincially regulated employers, including corporate clients, municipalities, provincial public sector employers, educational institutions (primary, secondary, and post-secondary), and unions. In the course of his career, Coran has been involved in the investigation of numerous complaints of bullying and harassment, sexual harassment, allegations of bribery and financial misconduct, privacy violations, and various allegations of general workplace misconduct.
