During her more than 30-year legal career, Dawn has worked as Crown counsel with the Ministry of Attorney General, legal advisor to the Vancouver Police Department, advisory services counsel for the BC Health Care Risk Management Society, and most recently as a provincial court judge sitting in Surrey and Vancouver.
Dawn has significant experience and expertise in complex legal matters, including but not limited to major crime investigations and prosecutions, including those involving serious violence, sexual violence, intimate partner violence, and criminal harassment and sexual harassment. As a provincial court judge, she presided over adult and youth criminal justice matters, which often included allegations of sexual harassment, sexual violence, and issues of consent, as well as family matters, small claims civil matters, and Ministry of Family and Child Development child protection hearings. She has built a career focused on justice, leadership, respect, and public advocacy. She is recognized by many of the people she has worked with for her kindness, compassion, and thoughtful, practical, and reasoned decisions and advice.
